WHERE TO FIND US AND WHEN WE MEET

We hold our social meeting on every 2nd Tuesday of each month (Except January) in the Mt. Waverley Community Centre Youth Centre Hall, located opposite the railway station on Miller Crescent, Mt. Waverley. The hall is situated next to the library.

Meetings start at 8.00pm and a cup of tea or coffee is available from 7.30pm. A basket supper is provided at the conclusion of our meetings at approx.10.00pm which gives everyone the opportunity to mingle and chat. Visitors are most welcome, and are cordially invited to come along to a couple of meetings to get a feel for things and see if we are just what you have been looking for. On arrival, make yourself known to the ladies or gents in the kitchen who will be pleased to make a cuppa and introduce you to some of our members.

OUR AIMS

To provide a place for our members to meet and share information in a very friendly, relaxed and sociable atmosphere.

For members to be able to purchase up-to-date and desirable plants at a reasonable cost.

For members to enjoy the benefits of access to all manner of cultural experiences and information, with the emphasis being able to learn more about our favourite plants.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

We have guest speakers throughout the year to come and address our members about cymbidiums and who often bring plants for sale, an added bonus to an evening of stimulating information. In addition, we have a cultural segment at each meeting that is a good-natured and informative general discussion with plenty of good advice from our most experienced growers. There is also an interesting commentary each month about the plants that have been bought in for judging, prizes are awarded for the monthly competition winners.

The club holds a growing competition for members, so that the year’s nominated young plants can be assessed for their successful progress each month. For the competition minded there are formal shows held at various venues during each year to participate in, with generous prize monies and awards to be won. We have monthly newsletters to keep everyone informed of important dates, events etc or visit our website www.cosv.com.au. Visits to other growers' shade houses are arranged from time to time during the flowering season and these occasions are a great way to acquire that special plant as well as having fun.

Annual Shows are normally held in September each year, check newsletter & website for show information.
