Photos from the Spring Show
On the 14th of November, we held our in-house Spring Show with all the late-flowering Cyms. Quite a few late-flowering species were exhibited along with several hybrids. A selection of photos featuring some of the plants are included here.
Cymbidium Orchid Festival 2023
The COSV’s annual Cymbidium show is back on again this September! Come visit us at Mt. Waverley Community Centre on the 9th and 10th!
Website Updates
Today a few small changes have been published on the website, including Greig Russell’s article on the taxonomy of Cym. zaleskianum and the addition of Cym. erythrostylum to the Species Profile page.
New Orchid Trading Website
There's a new orchid website, Orchid Market, which allows Australian growers to buy and sell plants directly from each other as an alternative to eBay and Gumtree.
Cymbidium Orchid Festival 2022
After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, the COSV’s annual Cymbidium show is back on again this weekend, the 10th and 11th of September!
We’re Back! Meeting in November
As a result of the vaccination rollout and reduced restrictions, we are now able to hold our next meeting, which will take place this coming Tuesday (9th of November) at the normal time. There will be a potting demonstration and discussion of the last year, since the main flowering season is drawing to a close and it’s the time of year to repot or divide plants.
Spring Show Cancelled
Unfortunately due to the ongoing COVID outbreak in Victoria, the Spring Show (planned for the 11th and 12th of September) has been cancelled.
July Meeting to go Ahead
Restrictions are easing here in Victoria and so the next COSV meeting will be held on Tuesday the 13th of July.
June Meeting Cancelled
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the June meeting of the COSV due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria.
Meetings Finally Resume
We are now able to hold our first meeting for 2021! It will be on Tuesday the 9th of March. Due to the COVID restrictions in place by Monash Halls, there are some rules that we need to follow…
2020 Melbourne Orchid Spectacular Cancelled
Due to COVID-19 and the ensuing complications, OSCOV has cancelled the Melbourne Orchid Spectacular this year.
2020 Annual Show Cancelled
With restrictions in Victoria extended, the COSV has decided to cancel the 2020 show.
Meeting Update and Cymbidium Chatter
No meetings in the near future, but back issues of Cymbidium Chatter are now available on the website for everyone to read.
Cancellation of May 2020 Meeting
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the May 2020 meeting as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
New Location for 2020 COSV Show
This year’s show will be held at the Southern Community Centre in Mulgrave from Friday the 11th through Sunday the 13th of September.
